Blue Bloodedness

Wonder if its because of my jobs. "I can see weird connections." Some colleagues were talking about how fast some blue-blooded guys rose through the ranks in the organization. Another colleague mentioned a double-promotion. The word blue-blood stuck in my head for a while. When I got home, I saw a plate of unfamiliar looking strips in a dish. At first I thought it was 海带呀海带... I saw the kelp, I gave a yelp.

Don't really like it although I know its nutritious. If I were stranded at sea, I would probably be eating lots of it to stay alive. It is so nutritious, I may even put on some weight out in the sea. Otherwise I just avoid it. My mum heard my yelp and told me its actually purple cabbage.
What a relief. It doesn't have much of a taste and in fact I think the usual pale green cabbage taste nicer. But because it has purple pigments in its leaves, it cost more than the usual cabbage. Reminded me of the blue-bloodedness conversations. Led me to one conclusion - its always good to have some blue pigments in your blood. A human with blue blood enjoys higher social status and income, a cabbage with blue pigments (purple is blue + red) is said to be more nutritious and is more expensive. Now, where did I leave my bottle of blue ink...

Which Way Better?

Watching 生老病死的秘密, a translated Korean documentary on health topics. Looked at the title of my blog. Obviously I had to write something to connect the two. Immediately the topic came to my mind. Eat healthily or indulge? Eating raw fruits and vegetables have been said to be healthy for the body. Some really old folks swear by it and they have a head full of black hair and better-than-thou skin to back them up. Some younger folks think that life is short, and they should only do things they really want to do. So indulge now, for you may not get a chance tomorrow. Long story cut short, I think eventually everyone will settle for the cliched "in moderation". If I chose to indulge, I would be eating a slab of roast pork everyday. And be dead about 2 years back. I think there are four types of eaters. Those who enjoy eating healthy stuff , those who don't enjoy healthy stuff and avoid them, and those who prefer not so healthy stuff BUT don't eat them. Those who find eating the same bland and boring things everyday enjoyable, good for them. They get to live a long enjoyable life. Those who don't enjoy and don't eat, a short but enjoyable life. The last category, which I believe I fall under most of the times when I don't indulge, are the most miserable. That slab of juicy roast meat!!!
Do I want to live to 99 abstaining from it? Reminds me of this scene, where a guy said that he would rather live one day with the gal he loves, than to live a hundred years without. I guess over-exertion from sex wouldn't be an issue for him then.

*Note from the documentary: Salt intake limit at 6g per day (How do I keep track?!). Do aerobic exercises in the afternoon for 30mins everyday. Eat unpolished rice*
